Ease of Use – the Most Important Feature
Ease of use is the priority for most people when they look for a juicer. If a juicer is difficult to clean or makes you do too much chopping and preparation then it will get parked in a cupboard and replaced by an easy to use model that can juice quickly and easily.
We are all pressured for time and nobody want to spend hours cutting and cleaning. Easy to Use Juicers The Breville 200 XL and its "big brother" the Breville JE98 XL Juice Fountain get many glowing reviews complimenting them both on the speed of juicing and the speed of clean up. The juicing takes just 5 seconds or so and the users report clean up to take a minute or two. Some parts are dishwasher safe too.
Slow Juicers but easy to clean …
Mixed opinions on the Omega 2006. It is a masticating juicer and all of them are much slower when juicing than the Breville centrifugal juicers. Much more work has to be done to prepare the produce too because every thing has to fit into a narrow feed tube. Having said that, the Omega 2006 is well designed and clean up is fairly speedy.
This juicer or rather this type of juicer is for those who are content to wait for their juice because they believe it to be higher quality and for those who need lots of wheat grass and other stringy greens. Also good for making peanut butter or various baby foods or sorbets.
If you like the upside of the Omega 2006 but you'd like it a bit faster then the Omega VRT 350 may be interesting. The vertical design seems to make the juicer work faster with less clogging than many horizontal masticators. The clean up may be a problem though – the parts must be washed by hand – all 5 of them!
What is the Juicer made of?
Materials Matter They matter to the folks who MUST have stainless steel kitchenware and so will pay a lot more to get it. They matter to budget conscious folks who are glad to pick up a Breville 200XL Compact juice fountain which because it is plastic comes in a budget price.
The Breville 800JEXL has a die cast housing, stainless steel micromesh filter and titanium plated cutting disc Another plus for stainless steel is the ease with which it cleans whereas plastic can stain after exposure to fruit juice
Size Matters Too
The Breville 200XL is described as "Compact" and its true that it has a compact base or small footprint. On the other hand it is 16 inches high and that may not suit every kitchen. This is fine for my kitchen because I have a 20 inch clearance between my counter and the base of my wall cupboards. If you intend to leave your juicer out on the counter top it may be best to check the dimensions and make sure it will fit into your planned storage position.
Range of Foods
An important feature to be clear about at the beginning is what you will be juicing. Some owners only make orange juice and some only want to make Wheat grass juice. Most people want a general purpose juicer which may not be perfect for any juice but is a great all rounder. For a specialist Citrus juicer consider the Breville CP800XL and for a specialist Wheatgrass juicer compare the Omega J006 to the manual Hurricane.
Guarantee / Warranty
We are used to getting a 1 year Warranty and that is what comes with the Breville 200XL and the JE98XL. But the Omega J8006 comes with a 15 year warranty! If I was on the fence that would trigger me to buy it!
Noise – Are You OK with a Noisy Juicer?
Some of the juicers have very powerful motors and will make quite a racket. The choice is to endure it for a few seconds or have a masticating juicer which is quiet but will take 10 or so minutes to make your juice.
Decisions, Decisions! So much to think of! So here are 2 simple points to bear in mind. (1) If you have a special need such as following a health program and that includes a particular juicer then your decision is simpler!
Likewise for wheatgrass fans or Citrus only juicers – consider what you want, read through this page a few times and the reviews of the products that interest you.
If it would help then use the comment section below to ask me any question you have. Bear in mind that I have no "secret" information but I'll be happy to help if I can. Otherwise… (2) If you want a good all round juicer that comes with a budget price then my recommended juicer is the Breville 200XL
